The MSDBC pin, the well-known pink ribbon loop, has MSDBC printed on the left side and two gold butterflies, the larger one representing the mother (older generation) and the smaller one representing the daughter (younger generation), journeying this breast cancer experience together.

Please send any literature that will help me support my daughter through the struggle with breast cancer. Thank you so much.

My daughter sent me this link. She is now 28 and was diagnosed last fall with stage 4 breast cancer at the age of 27. She is doing so well keeping positive. I have my days when it is difficult to stay positive. I listened to your presentation and was very moved. It made me cry. I felt like your mom with the question, what did I do to cause this to happen. I also am a nurse and know that there was nothing I did but I still feel somewhat responsible. My daughter has started her 9th round of chemo with no end in site. Everything looks better but onward we go. I go to all her treatments with her (she is single). Everyone treating her are great. I will keep an eye on the website for any update of information. Thanks for your ongoing support.

I am trying to take photos to put them on the current website. We have our MSDBC pin, a stained glass pink ribbon, a large nylon flag (28 X 40 inches) with the pink ribbon on it, a small ribbon (on a stick for use at rallies), transformation artwork (twelve frames that change from the usual pink ribbon slowly into the ribbon split at tje tp[. tje ;pp[, and gradually opens with some other colors creeping the X-shape until at the last couple of frames it is now a butterfly, the symbol of survival) and breast cancel awareness tote bags (medium slate blue cotton cloth with pink ribbons all over and solid pink lining).

If you send me your name and mailing address, I will send an order form with the literature. I apologize for not responding sooner. We are awaiting the arrival (and damage, I fear) from Hurricane Irene. It is due to hit the Delmarva Peninsula tonight, if the timing of the Weather Channel is correct.

More later. Please e-mail me with the information so I can send our literature. Love, Charmayne

However, glad I found your site just wished I had found it sooner so that my daujghter and I could have had the support to do the journey with others going through it. Thanking you in advance for your suggestion(s).

Thanks for your interest in Breast Cancer Awareness month (October). We are hoping for a vaccine such as we have for small pox and polio. Then the world will be able to concentrate more on finding cures for other dreaded diseases. Meanwhile, we press on toward research and ways to wipe out cancer.

Judith, I thought I had responded a long time ago. Apparently I was mistaken. If you send your mailing address to I can send our packet of literature that may be helpful to you and your family. Hope to hear from you via e-mail. Thanks.

You are welcome, Brenda. Yes, cancer does take over one’s life. The whole family is affected, as well as all who know and love the patient.
Thanks for letting me know that our literature was helpful.

Love, Charmayne

Yes, we need everyone to be aware of breast cancer all the time. The best protection is early detection. We are hoping for a vaccine, such as we have for small pox and polio. We hope the research that is going on all the time will soon find one.

Love, Charmayne

I was diagnosed with breast cancer 7 months ago.  I am one of the lucky ones with dcis stage 0.  My daughter just found a lump had a needle biopsy today, it doesnt look good.  I would love to have some suggestions as how to be the best mom through the difficult time.  Gail

When a mother contacts me, I ask her to be certain the “patient” is in charge. Have her make a list of all the people who have told her they want to help. This gives the patient a chance to call her family members and friends when she needs something. Everyone wants to help but no one knows what to do. In this way it puts more people at ease, knowing she will get in touch with them when needed. For some reason, they feel guilty, even though there is no reason to feel guilty. Helps everyone, including the patient.
Send your name and mailing address to: msdbc@verizon.net so I can send our MSDBC literature that may help you to accompany your daughter through this journey. The packets are sent Priority Mail, which usually takes only a few days to reach you.
